Cricket Poem (by Harry)

18 Mar

The thing about cricket,

Is to take the wicket.

When you’re batting,

You must resemble Mike Gatting.

In comes a fast one,

No time to groan

Steady your defense,

Make the bowler moan.

In comes a spinner,

Is it a winner?

The ball is flying,

But the fielders are vying.

The square leg is diving,

The fans are writhing,

“Terrible miss”,

the fans all hiss.

Going for four,

This could up the score,

The boundary is reached

The defence is breeched

The batsmen you must thwart,

A lesson must be taught,

Let off a spinner

Surely a winner!

Oh no, what a shot,

That’ll win them a lot

Fielder running,

running, running.

He makes a dive,

We’re gonna survive,

Batsmen says drat,

We all say “HOWZAT”

Five days are up,

Who’ll win the cup.

England has won,

Our task is done.

I dunno, I’m not an expert on poems, but personally it doesn’t seem too great. Can’t give any improvements though due to my inexperience at poems.
